Big Bend College Student Trip

January 2-6th

A semester away at college can be a big drifting point when it comes to faith. We are doing a wilderness out to Big Bend trip to reconnect with our college students, challenge them to get plugged into a spiritual community, and re-spark their relationship with God at a time that is pivotal in their long term faith and growth.

We will be driving the church van, leaving early on the 2nd from the Lakeway Church and returning late on the 6th. We will be car camping in the park and doing day hikes to the South Rim, the Window, the Lost Mine, and Bolquillas Canyon, as well as summiting Emory Peak. We will go to a hot spring, see incredible views of Texas and Mexico, and enjoy some cold weather!

TLC will provide a majority of the gear, including tents, cookware, and our campsite setup. We will include a full what-to-bring list for those who register, but students will need a cold weather sleeping bag (I would recommend at least a 20 degree bag or lower), warm clothes, a sleeping pad (normally provided but not this time), and a day pack for carrying extra layers, food, and water on our hikes.

This trip will cost $200 per person. This will include transportation, most of the meals, park entry fees, and campsite reservations.

Students will need to bring money for lunch on the way there and the way back, as well as money for breakfast at the lodge before departing.
