Operation Christmas Child

It is time to start thinking about filling Operation Christmas Child boxes to share Christmas and Jesus with underprivileged children across the world. We hope you join us and include your child(ren) in shopping and filling these boxes. All boxes and detailed instructions on what to include will be provided.

Boxes will be available following all church services on 10/27, 11/3, and 11/10. Please return your filled boxes with $9 to cover shipping costs. Checks must be payable to Samaritan’s Purse; or make your payment online through ‘Follow Your Box’, where you and your child(ren) can track where your box goes. Instructions will be included with your box. Return the boxes to the office during the week, or following church services on 11/17, the deadline. There will be a U-Haul truck in the parking lot where we will load the boxes and pray over them as they begin their journey spreading God’s love.

Please remember – Samaritan’s Purse does NOT allow any food items due to custom restrictions. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED Please help us pack the boxes or provide supplies. Donations to help with shipping charges are always welcome. If you would like to be part of this rewarding mission, please contact: Sandi Metzger at sandimetzger18@gmail.com or 512-423-0340.

IF: Gathering Feb 7 & 8, 2020

Once again, The Lakeway Church will host ‘IF:Gathering’ in 2020. How could we not?? We received so many testimonies from those of you who were blessed by the speakers, music and fellowship! So open that digital calendar now, so you don’t schedule something else that weekend. (Ask your nephew to get married on another weekend ~ just kidding ~ sort of.)

Event timing is the same: Friday night, Saturday morning and afternoon. Included are live worship music, two meals and live-streaming incredible Christian women speakers from the main event in Dallas.

If you would like to be a part of the team planning this event, please call or email Magan Lewis at (512) 789-9300; maganlewis@gmail.com.

Did you miss last February’s IF:Gathering? Or would you like to listen to some of those talks again? You can do this! It’s available free to you, using our church’s subscription to RightNow Media. Look for “IF:Gathering 2019” under “Popular Bible Studies for Women.” Not subscribed yet? Click here and get your account started.

Human Trafficking is CLOSER than you think!

The Refuge, a facility for the long-term rehabilitation of girls who are survivors of domestic minor child sex trafficking, is now a permanent outreach of The Lakeway Church. It is supported financially as well as with volunteer time and effort. The Women’s Ministry Steering Committee has a subcommittee, chaired by Carole Dueser, that is continually developing ways in which we can be of service. Current involvement:

  • A Worship Team brings a short evening service to the girls and house moms one night every month. Also, the Team takes dinner, which is prepared by a Food Committee. There are 10 members on the Team, each completing extensive volunteer requirements in order to have direct contact with the girls, and they rotate going five at a time.
  • Thanks to the efforts of Sharon Rogers, craft kits are being sent with the Worship Team and distributed to the girls for an after-dinner activity.
  • Members of TLC’s Pottery Class are cutting and firing DOVE-shaped tiles, which are part of the Dove Tile Project Kits being shipped across the country. Volunteers are needed and appreciated. Time: Monday, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, Youth Building.
  • How can you help: The Refuge is continually looking for therapists, house moms and therapeutic care staff. Please go to https://therefugeaustin.org for additional information.
