Lakeway Students

Milestones

In the student ministry, we’ve identified several key times in the life of a student as they journey from elementary school all the way into college. We’ve sought to develop our programming strategically around these crucial turning points in order to best coach our students in their spiritual growth. These programs are specially designed for the time at which they’re offered, and students aren’t able to take them later on. Don’t miss out!

The Bridge

Entering 6th grade is a big leap from elementary school. We want to help students make that transition well!  What things and people do you allow to shape your life and choices? After dropping students off at camp, parents are invited to a separate gathering to discuss this transition from a parenting perspective.

Faith 101

Faith 101

8th grade and above – Students need space to ask hard questions and wrestle with their beliefs. We believe this is part of taking ownership of their faith. Students will learn and discuss what it means to follow Jesus in high school and beyond.

Launch

In Launch, we help students to see and articulate the lessons God has been teaching them that can guide them in the transition from life now into the increasing freedoms and opportunities that come after high school.

WHY —To powerfully pray for students, staff and schools (public/private/homeschool) as they begin their year. Students, parents, grandparents, friends, faculty, staff and any supporting community members are all invited!

WHAT —Families are encouraged to gather for 30 minutes featuring a short greeting and prayer led by members of our community. Afterwards, you’re encouraged to pray at other school campuses you represent.

WHERE —At Lake Travis High School’s flagpole at the main entrance/front steps (3324 Ranch Road 620 S, 78738) — 8:30am sharp. Park in the adjacent lot, directly in front of the main steps.

WHO —This event is a coordinated effort by families in our community — from different schools and different churches — who have a heart for the schools and for prayer. We can’t wait to see what God will do when we come together to pray for this very special purpose.

Blessing of the Backpacks
Sunday, August 10 | 9:30 & 11:00 am | Sanctuary

Hey families!
Grab those backpacks, lunch boxes, tote bags—or whatever your kids carry into the school year—and join us for a special Blessing of the Backpacks during worship! We’ll pray over students, teachers, and families as they head into a brand-new school year with courage, kindness, and maybe even sharpened pencils.

For Kids Ministry Families:
Check in your kids (K–5th) 10 minutes early and drop them off with their leaders. We’ll walk them into the Sanctuary together.

Running a little late? No worries—they can join you in the Sanctuary or wait with us in the Large Group Room.

Let’s kick off the school year with faith, fun, and a little holy encouragement in those backpacks!

Baptisms at Lakeway Church

Baptism is a beautiful next step in your journey of faith. It’s an outward expression of the inward transformation that happens when you place your trust in Jesus Christ. Through baptism, you publicly declare that your old life is gone and you’ve been raised to new life in Christ. (Luke 3:13-17; Acts 2:38-39; Luke 23:39-43)

While faith in Jesus is what saves us (Ephesians 2:8-9), baptism is a powerful act of obedience and a celebration of the new life He gives.

Interested in Being Baptized?

If you’d like to learn more about what baptism means and what to expect on Baptism Sunday, we invite you to join one of our upcoming Baptism Classes.
For children in K–5th grade, a parent must attend the class with them.
