Lead Pastor
Lead Pastor
I’m overjoyed and deeply humbled at your approval to serve you as your next lead pastor. I immediately felt excitement and responsibility when receiving the news of the church-wide vote on Sunday. I am excited because, through this process, Shelly and I have fallen in love with Lakeway Church and the surrounding community. And we feel a deep sense of responsibility because serving Jesus’ church in any capacity requires an abiding walk with Him and a sacrificial love for His people.
I’m looking forward to hearing your stories – how the Lord is working in your life and how I can help you pursue a life surrendered to Jesus.
Scott loves Jesus! Growing up without Christ and in a home without faith, everything changed when, at twenty-one years old, he surrendered his life to Jesus. It didn’t take long for God’s grace to transform Scott’s heart and life deeply. His favorite verse is Philippians 1:6, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Scott’s mission is to live a joy-filled life fully surrendered to Jesus and help others do the same.
He and his wife, Shelly, have been married for twenty-nine years and are proud parents to three amazing young adults: Ashley, Morgan, and Dylan. They love traveling and spending time together as a family.
Scott has five guiding values: courageous humility, obsessive curiosity, Godly integrity, relationships first, and intentional discipleship. These values inspire and challenge him daily in his pursuit of Christlikeness. Scott is also passionate about normalizing brokenness. For him, vulnerability is the key to meaningful relationships and effective discipleship.
Scott’s leadership approach is relational and collaborative. He aims to empower others to realize their full potential. His teaching style is conversational, and he works hard to include everyone present. Known for making theological truths easier to understand, Scott is also known for his humor, storytelling, and vulnerability as he teaches.
Scott enjoys cycling, hiking, playing the guitar, hanging out around a campfire, and listening to real-life God stories – how Jesus shows up in my everyday life.
