Lakeway Church

Because Christ has made us one, we are responsible for living in a way that protects and reflects that unity.

Paul begins the practical half of Ephesians not with programs, structures, leadership, or strategy, but with character. A life worthy of the gospel is marked by humility, gentleness, patience, and a willingness to bear with one another in love.

Paul does not tell the church to create unity. Christ has already created it. Our responsibility is to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

That means Christian unity is nether accidental or passive. It requires something from us.

One of the most difficult responsibilities in the Christian life is telling someone a truth they do not want to hear.

Most people find themselves at one of two extremes:

· Some tell the truth without love.

· Others show love without truth.

Truth without love becomes harshness.

Love without truth becomes compromise.

The Apostle Paul demonstrates a better way. In Galatians 4:12–20, we see a pastor, missionary, and spiritual father whose heart is breaking as he watches believers drift away from the gospel. The Galatians are sliding backward into legalism. False teachers have infiltrated the churches. The gospel of grace is being replaced with a gospel of performance.

What does it look like to follow Jesus in a world that often feels opposed to Him?

The book of 1 Peter was written to believers facing uncertainty, cultural tension, and persecution because of their faith — people learning how to stay faithful while living as “exiles” in the world around them.

Their struggle feels surprisingly familiar.

In this 10-week series, we’ll discover how the Gospel gives us living hope, deep identity, resilient faith, and a distinct way of living. Together, we’ll learn how to stand firm, live holy, love deeply, and boldly reflect Jesus in every season of life.

Scripture: Matthew 2:1-12

Every now and then, life sends a moment that breaks in like a spotlight cracking open a midnight sky. A truth you didn’t see coming. A call you didn’t know you needed. A revelation that changes everything!.

Christians have a name for this kind of holy interruption: Epiphany.
Epiphany celebrates the moment when God revealed his Son to the nations through the strange caravan of star-following travelers we call the Magi.

Max Lucado says God loves to slip into the quiet corners of the world and whisper, “I’m here.” Epiphany is the day we remember that whisper became a cosmic announcement.

Matthew 2:1-12 is not simply a Christmas after-scene. It is a turning of the great wheel of redemptive history. The world is meeting its King.

Let’s walk into the story.

PEACEMAKERS

Jesus calls His followers not simply to be peacekeepers, but to be peacemakers. Peacemaking is not about avoiding conflict, but rather about actively pursuing reconciliation, even when it is costly.  Rooted in the peace we receive from Christ, we are called to extend the same peace to others – our family, our church, and the world.  To make peace is to reflect the heart of God and live as His Children.

Scripture Readings: Matthew 5:1-9, James 3:18, Romans 12:18, Hebrews 12:14
