Blessing of the Backpacks

Hey families!
Grab those backpacks, lunch boxes, tote bags—or whatever your kids carry into the school year—and join us for a special Blessing of the Backpacks during worship! We’ll pray over students, teachers, and families as they head into a brand-new school year with courage, kindness, and maybe even sharpened pencils.

For Kids Ministry Families:
Check in your kids (K–5th) 10 minutes early and drop them off with their leaders. We’ll walk them into the Sanctuary together.

Running a little late? No worries—they can join you in the Sanctuary or wait with us in the Large Group Room.

Let’s kick off the school year with faith, fun, and a little holy encouragement in those backpacks!

Family Worship 

Parents are the primary faith builders for their children. Four to five times a year, on the fifth Sunday of the month, families have the opportunity to worship together. This allows kids and students to experience the importance of attending “big church” and growing in faith alongside the broader church family.

Your most important role as a parent is helping your children begin a relationship with Jesus! If you’re wondering if your child is ready to be baptized and how they can become followers of Christ, our Baptism Class is a perfect place for kids from kindergarten through 5th grade to get their questions answered.

There will be a video and more details on what to expect on baptism day.

Baptisms at Lakeway Church

Baptism is a beautiful next step in your journey of faith. It’s an outward expression of the inward transformation that happens when you place your trust in Jesus Christ. Through baptism, you publicly declare that your old life is gone and you’ve been raised to new life in Christ. (Luke 3:13-17; Acts 2:38-39; Luke 23:39-43)

While faith in Jesus is what saves us (Ephesians 2:8-9), baptism is a powerful act of obedience and a celebration of the new life He gives.

Child Dedication

Child Dedication is a special time for parents to commit their child to the Lord and pray for their spiritual future. Our desire is to partner with families as they raise their children to know and follow Jesus.

Child Dedication Class

We believe a child’s dedication and celebration are about dedicating the child to the Lord and encouraging parents to raise them in a God-honoring way. As your church, we want to partner with you and be your biggest fans and supporters as you seek to raise your child to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ one day.
