Stephen Ministry: Christ-centered, confidential care for those struggling with life’s challenges.
Stephen Ministry at Lakeway Church provides high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community who are experiencing life difficulties. Lakeway Church Stephen Ministers are congregation members specially trained to offer a listening ear, prayer, and hope to people who are hurting.
Stephen Ministry carefully recruits, selects, trains, and provides ongoing support to Stephen Ministers to provide the best care to their brothers and sisters in Christ.
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ commands…
To equip the saints for the work of ministry. – Ephesians 4:12a
Therefore encourage one another and build up each other. – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. – Galatians 6:2
What is Stephen Ministry? Info Page
We all experience challenges in life -times when we could benefit from the support of a caring Christian friend. Stephen Ministers will “be there” for their care receiver, meeting faithfully for about an hour each week for as long as needed.
Could you or someone you know benefit from the confidential, one-to-one care of a Stephen Minister?
If you are interested in having a Stephen Minister reach out to you, please contact:

A Stephen Minister is a Lakeway Church member who has completed 50 hours of Christ-centered relationship training and is willing to make a minimum two-year service commitment. Once trained, Stephen Ministers are commissioned to provide quality care to a care receiver for about one hour each week to help in a life challenge or crisis. Commissioned Stephen Ministers also commit to attending peer supervision and continuing education sessions twice per month.

Join the Lakeway Church Prayer Shawl Ministry to create the gift of a “hug” to remind others they are surrounded by prayers and care.
Prayer shawls and lap robes have been made for centuries, offering comfort, warmth, and a tangible reminder of God’s love. Created with prayers and blessings, they console the grieving, comfort the ill, and celebrate life’s milestones. The prayer shawl ministry, started in Hartford, Connecticut by Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo in 1998, combines compassion with knitting, spreading care and solace through these hand-made gifts. The act of giving or receiving a shawl brings an embrace of God’s sheltering presence, with blessings that ripple from person to person.
