Wilderness Ranch Prep Mission Trip: May 4 – 11

Every summer, hundreds of teens will venture into the Colorado wilderness with Young Life to have a life-changing encounter with God away from their normal social dynamic and the routines of their everyday life. This is an incredible opportunity for ministry at a strategic point in their lives, and we get to be a part of helping to make that happen!

Join us for this opportunity to prepare Young Life’s Wilderness Ranch in Creede, Colorado, for the Summer of 2024. Our days will be spent building, de-winterizing, painting, landscaping, and preparing tents, supplies, and all the tasks and projects needed before campers arrive. We need all skill levels from “I live and breathe construction” to “I’ve never held a hammer in my life.”  The most important is an attitude of service and a willingness to work! Join us for this opportunity to prepare Young Life’s Wilderness Ranch in Creede, Colorado, for the Summer of 2023. Days will be spent building, de-winterizing, painting, landscaping, and preparing tents, supplies, and all the tasks and projects needed before campers arrive.

What: Lakeway Church is partnering with Young Life’s Wilderness Ranch to help get the camp ready for the Summer Camp Season!

Where: Creede, Colorado

When: May 4 – May 11, 2024

There will be a caravan leaving Saturday, May 4th, in the morning, up to Angel Fire, spend Saturday night there FREE, then drive from Angel Fire to Creede the following day. Those same accommodations are available on the return trip. Jarrod Mansell, trip leader, will drive the church van (first come, first serve – contact Jarrod directly), and others are welcome to carpool/caravan along.

You may opt to fly to the nearest airport, rent a car, and drive to Wilderness Ranch (the easiest is a 2-hour flight to Albuquerque, then a 4.5-hour drive to Creede).  If traveling on your own, it would be ideal for you to arrive at Wilderness Ranch on the evening of Sunday, May 5th.

Monday, May 6th: Full Work Day
Tuesday, May 7th: Full Work Day
Wednesday, May 8th: Spiritual Formation Day
Thursday, May 9th: Full Work Day
Friday, May 10th: Morning Only Work

Why:  Sacrificial outreach is one of the marks of Lakeway Church. We believe every follower of Jesus is called to love and serve others in Jesus’ name. Stepping out in faith to serve others will have a transformative impact on your life.

Cost: $25 per person + cost of own transportation (and meals on travel days)

Wilderness Ranch is definitely ‘out there,’ tucked up in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado.  We know it’s a long way, and transportation is at your own expense, giving you the freedom to tag on a vacation up in the cool weather before/after making the trek up there!  You are not required (but welcome!) to travel with the group.
