Whether it’s greeting at our Welcome Center, teaching kids about Jesus, leading with our worship team, or helping out behind the scenes, there are many ways to use your gifts! We encourage you to check out how you can serve in your church.

Sunday Experience

The Sunday Experience Team exists to engage relationally with guests, creating an experience where every guest feels welcomed, valued, and seen. We strive to show the love of Jesus by how we intentionally interact with guests, meeting them where they are and helping them take their next step toward Jesus.

COFFEE

The Sunday morning coffee team creates a warm welcome through ready smiles and caring yet efficient service. With extraordinary generosity, they serve coffee and water to guests attending church services and discipleship activities.

Tasks

  • Coffee ground & filter prep
  • Brew coffee / fill pots
  • Stock supplies
  • Serve coffee to guests
  • Watch for guests who may need individual care

Serving Rotation

  • Minimum 1 Sunday per month
  • Minimum 45-minute shifts

Requirements

  • A joyful demeanor
  • Ability to multi-task between greeting and serving
  • Ability to stand for 45 minutes

DOOR GREETER

DOOR GREETER

The door greeters are the first point of contact and help shape the worship experience for all guests by offering a sincere greeting and making each individual feel uniquely welcome.

Tasks

  • Greet each guest with ready smiles and an open door
  • Watch for guests who may need individual care
  • Walk guests to areas of the Worship Center as needed
  • Be aware of the focus for each Sunday, announcements from the pulpit, and of current events at the church
  • Assist communion needs before services
  • Provide service-related handouts to guests

Serving Rotation

  • Minimum 1 Sunday per month
  • Minimum 1 hour, 45-minute shift

Requirements

  • A joyful, relaxed, and knowledgeable demeanor
  • Ability to assess and meet the needs of guests with cheerfulness and grace

PARKING LOT

PARKING LOT

The parking lot team offers an energetic presence, logistical assistance, and a safe experience for all guests by guiding traffic and providing golf cart shuttles.

Tasks

  • Watch the flow of traffic and be aware of all incoming cars
  • Identify open spots and guide drivers as needed
  • Drive golf carts to shuttle between cars and entrances
  • Assist with crowd management during emergency response
  • Provide support during special events surrounding holidays or other church-wide needs

Serving Rotation

  • Minimum 2 Sundays per month
  • Minimum 1 hour, 30 minute shift

Requirements

  • A joyful and commanding demeanor
  • Able to assess needs or issues and respond quickly
  • Able to approach guests with confidence and navigate challenges with Christ-like behavior

USHER

The usher team reinforces an easygoing welcome into the sanctuary and helps create a distraction-free worship experience.

Tasks

  • Smile at guests as they enter the auditorium
  • Evaluate seating needs including number, access, etc
  • Guide guests to a suitable row
  • Ensure easy entry to seats
  • Assist communion needs during services
  • Reset the auditorium when needed
  • Assist with crowd management during emergency response

Serving Rotation

  • Minimum 1 Sunday per month
  • Minimum 1 hour, 45 minute shift

Requirements

  • A joyful, relaxed, helpful and commanding demeanor
  • Ability to assess and meet the needs of guests with cheerfulness and grace

SAFETY/SECURITY

The safety team works in a variety of ways to ensure a safe worship experience under the direction of the Safety Team Lead.

Tasks

*not all roles complete all tasks*

  • Respond to a variety of emergency situations including medical needs, facility failure, natural disasters, etc.
  • Anticipate and watch suspect behavior
  • Approach guests with curiosity; be helpful while evaluating possible outcomes and appropriate responses
  • De-escalate situations using multiple skill sets
  • Communicate accurately and efficiently with team members through radio
  • Protect the congregation at gathering places, perimeter surveillance, etc.
  • Be vigilant and ready to respond if needed when off-duty
  • Respond to active threats

Requirements

  • A member of Lakeway Church
  • Hold and demonstrate a deeply dedicated relationship with the Lord
  • Concealed-handgun license
  • Requested: emergency medical training and experience
  • Complete the application, interview, and background check process
  • Approved to serve by the Safety Team Lead and pastoral staff

WELCOME AMBASSADORS

Welcome ambassadors are available on Sundays and throughout the week to intentionally connect visitors with next steps to become part of our active community.

Tasks

  • Anticipate and watch for guests who may want a 1-1 conversation
  • Proactively approach new visitors and offer assistance
  • Receive new visitor information and directly connect with established members, ministry leaders, staff or pastors
  • Stay informed on current and upcoming events and how to take next steps

Serving Rotation

  • Scheduled serving requested, but not required
  • Minimum 1 hour, 45 minute shift

Requirements

  • A joyful, relaxed, and authentically interested demeanor
  • Able to engage and connect quickly with strangers
  • Able to assess and meet the needs of guests with cheerfulness and grace

EVENTS SUPPORT

EVENTS SUPPORT

The events support team assists with set-up, during-event, and tear-down tasks, facilitating engaging, well-organized and Christ-centered events for our guests.

Tasks

  • Retrieve chairs, tables, signage, etc from storage and arrange per the needs of the event on campus
  • Set up audio/visual equipment as needed
  • Pick up or receive food delivery and prep for serving
  • Troubleshoot and solve the unexpected
  • Clean, move furniture, re-organize as needed during the event
  • Return chairs, tables, signage, food supplies to storage, ensuring all items are in good condition

  • Easter Season

Requirements

  • A joyful, flexible, can-do attitude
  • Able to lift moderately heavy and/or awkward items and stand/walk for long periods of time

Worship Team

Our Worship Team creates time and space for people to encounter God’s presence at our Sunday services and also at our Lakeway Kids, Students, and Community Outreach concert events. Our heart is to glorify God with excellent musical expression.

PRODUCTION

The production team provides behind-the-scenes support during live events on Sunday mornings and other scheduled times.

Tasks

  • Run slides during services
  • Operate the light board with an eye for the creative expression matching on-stage content
  • Operate the sound mixing board with an ear for high-quality sound production
  • Troubleshoot a variety of technical issues quickly and correctly with a calm and graceful attitude
  • Operate cameras with full knowledge of technical capabilities and aesthetic expectations
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with team members

Requirements

  • Technically-adept
  • Able to adjust course quickly and calmly
  • Able to remain alert and focused for long periods of time
  • Requested, but not required: prior projection, audio, lighting, and/or video experience

The Contemporary Worship Team helps to provide musical leadership for heartfelt, Christ-centered, congregational worship and works to create an environment in which people can more easily commune with God, encounter His Word, dwell in His presence, and respond to Him with whole-life worship. Opportunities include a variety of instrumental and vocalist roles.

The Traditional Worship service choir performs each Sunday as part of the traditional worship experience through anthems, leading hymns, and songs.

Research shows that 85% of Christians begin to follow Jesus between the ages of 4 and 14. By serving with Lakeway Kids, you can help provide a safe and consistent environment that allows kids (birth through 5th grade) to experience Jesus on their level.

Small Group Leader

Kids Ministry

Small Groups are where kids connect, are discipled, experience community with other kids, and are cared for by a trusted adult, a Small Group Leader. Leaders encourage kids to pursue deeper relationships with Jesus Christ by teaching and modeling what it means to become a follower.

-Lead prepared lessons to help the kids understand and apply the Bible to their lives.
-Leaders are equipped with training, weekly lessons, and prepared activities, so they may focus the hour on encouraging kids.
-Age range options include:  Nursery (birth-23 months), Toddler (2-3 years), Pre-K (4-5 years) Kindergarten through 5th grade

The student small group leader supports the ministry’s mission to engage student’s minds for a relationship with Jesus and lead them toward a life fully devoted to Him by discipling a group of approximately 10 students at our Wednesday night programming, called Rally. Small groups perform the essential functions of a community of believers in Christ: worship, prayer, Bible study, accountability, mission, and fellowship. The small group leader embraces these elements in their own Christian walk.

Our Missions Ministry facilitates partnerships with missionaries and ministries in our local community, in the Greater Austin area, and around the world. Our Missions teams work to develop those partnerships for effective ministry as we seek to extend the love of Christ beyond the walls of the church!

Local/Area Missions Liaisons

Local/Area Missions Liaisons

Local/Area Missions Liaisons build a relational connection with a ministry organization in our city that the church supports to help develop an effective partnership. Liaisons help to champion opportunities for our congregation to engage with that ministry, and they keep up to date with service projects, financial needs, and prayer requests. This role involves responsibilities like visiting the assigned organization, communicating/meeting with its leaders, personally praying regularly for the ministry, and facilitating any visits to Lakeway Church from that organization (like Sunday morning Missions Moments and our Missions Sunday event).

Global Missions Liaisons

Our Global Missions team members connect and collaborate with missionaries around the world that the church supports to help develop effective partnerships. Team members help to nurture excellent stewardship of our financial support of those missionaries, help to organize ways that the congregation can engage with them (by learning, going, giving, and praying), and help to ensure that the missionaries are encouraged and effective in the various places they’re serving around the world.

The hope of the Lakeway Church Garden Ministry is while our volunteers work side by side, tending the soil, harvesting the produce, and preparing it for distribution, they will discover Christian fellowship and learn to glorify God in new, meaningful ways.

The fruits and vegetables we produce at Garden 9:10 are distributed to help those in need in the Lake Travis community.
